| About: | Dr. R. Sakthivel joined DMI – St. Eugene University, Zambia, Central Africa in the year 2014 and currently working as Registrar. He has 9 years of teaching and research experience. He obtained his Ph.D. in Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology from Madras University, M.Phil. & M.Sc. Degree from Madras University, B.Sc. Degree from Bharathidasan University, Master in Education from Tamil Nadu Teacher Education University and Bachelor in Education from Bharathiyar University. Apart from these Degrees, he has completed 4 Diploma Degrees. He worked as a faculty member, Assistant Professor, Deputy Controller of Examination, Head of the Department, Vice Principal and Principal in DMI – St. Eugene University, Zambia - Central Africa, St. Joseph University College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Songea, Tanzania, East Africa and St. Joseph University in Tanzania, Arusha Campus, Arusha, Tanzania, East Africa. He has also been a Head of Monitoring Committee, member of Advisory Committee, member of Senate, member of NSS, member of Advisory board in addition to being the Principal – Academic and Ph.D Guide for various scholars. Apart from the above mentioned he is also an active member of different activities of the University. Research interests are in the area of Biofuel from Microalgae. In his Ph.D. research work, a total of 137 new taxa have been reported in fresh water bodies for the first time in Tamil Nadu. He had also undertaken many field collections and collected strains of both macro and microalgae. Further he has studied the Fatty acid profile of the collected Algae which can be the potential alternate for Biofuel. As a researcher, he has published 35 research articles in both International and National peer reviewed journals with Impact factor, NCBI – Genbank publications 30 and he has published 5 books.
