| About: | I have over 20 years of Research as well as Teaching experience, serving to Department of Human Genetics and Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar, (PB), India. Currently, I am serving as Head of the Department of Human Genetics, GNDU, Amritsar. Besides other academic duties, I have been constantly guiding the students in capacity of Mentor, Teacher-in-charge placement and Teacher-In-charge alumni. I have also organized various workshops in GNDU campus and constituent colleges. In addition, I have served as member of purchase committees under various departmental and central grants allocated to University, including SAP, UPE, CPEPA. At present, my focused research area is elucidation of role of animal lectins in various human diseases. During my tenure in this department, I have received an extramural research grant of approximately more than Rs. one hundred lakh from various National agencies. Till date, I have mentored 06 Ph.D. and 31 M.Sc. students. Currently, I am supervising research work of 4 Ph.D. and 7 M.Sc. students. The research outcome has been published in the form of 58 research papers and one book chapter. In addition, novel SNPs have been submitted to International databases. The cDNA nucleotide sequences of two novel anti-cancer, anti-insect, mitogenic plant lectins have also been submitted to GenBank, the NIH sequence database. I am also serving as referee for research articles submitted to various reputed International journals. |
