Abstract:
Civility costs noting but can buy everything. This is common nuance but forgotten by
majority of people in the world. The issue of civility in the context of higher learning
institutions is not at all exception compared to other work organisation. Higher learning
institution ideally needs to be more civilise than that of other organisations. But, there is
doubt, how much do the higher education workplace are civilised or uncivil in nature. With
this backdrop, a review of the literature was conducted on workplace civility in higher
education. Some cases were noted on the issue and practices in companies, with an eye
toward allegations for teachers, students and other staff in occupational. Here, we attempt
delineate the concept of incivility in the perspective of various related perceptions that have
been deliberated in the higher education literature. Based on review, recommendation is
shared about the generality of student and teachers incivility and its bases, both student- and
instructor-related, with a focus on producing what is known (and not known) based on
previous empirical research. To end with, practical approaches for instructors as well as
significant, ideally grounded directions for future research are drawn.
