Abstract:
Abstract: In the modern, fast-paced organizational environment, emotional intelligence (EI), organizational commitment (OC), and job satisfaction (JS) have emerged as pivotal factors in fostering a productive and harmonious workplace. EI is the ability to perceive, control, and evaluate emotions that are widely recognized as a critical determinant of JS. OC is characterized by an employee's psychological attachment to their organization and is a crucial determinant of JS and overall organizational performance. However, there is a lack of comprehensive understanding regarding how EI contributes to OC and, subsequently, how OC mediates the relationship between EI and JS. This study seeks to investigate the mediating role of OC between EI and JS, providing a clearer understanding of how EI can be harnessed to foster a committed workforce and improve satisfaction at work. This study utilized Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to explore the relationship between EI, OC, and JS. The sample consisted of 102 faculty members from selected private colleges in Iligan City. Data were collected using a survey questionnaire measuring emotional intelligence, organizational commitment, and job satisfaction. The results revealed significant and positive relationships between EI and JS, EI and OC, and OC and JS. Additionally, OC was found to partially mediate the relationship between EI and JS. The findings highlight the importance of EI in enhancing JS through increased OC. Organizations are recommended to invest in developing EI among employees to foster a more committed and satisfied workforce.
