Abstract:
The potential use of Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) for the sustainability of coastal areas has demonstrated significant benefits in enhancing environmental protection, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder engagement. However, challenges such as data collection, monitoring, and the effectiveness of mitigation measures must be addressed to fully realize the potential of EMPs. By investing in baseline data, implementing robust monitoring and adaptive management practices, enhancing stakeholder engagement, integrating EMPs with broader management frameworks, and allocating adequate resources, the effectiveness and sustainability of EMPs can be significantly improved.
