Abstract:
The Hostel Management System (HMS) is a comprehensive web-based platform developed to modernize and automate the administrative operations of educational institution hostels. Conventional hostel management relies on paper-based records, manual fee collection, and physical notice boards, leading to delays, errors, and communication gaps. The proposed system integrates role-based dashboards for administrators and students, enabling seamless management of fee collection, announcements, gate pass requests, complaints, QR-code-based attendance, and room allocation. The system is developed using React.js, HTML5, and CSS3 for the frontend, Node.js with Express.js as the backend API layer, and MongoDB as the database. Performance evaluations confirm improved operational efficiency, real-time data access, and high user satisfaction. The HMS provides a scalable and secure foundation for smart hostel ecosystems.
